Recognizing Burnout

Problem

Burnout is increasingly common in today’s fast-moving work environments, yet it often goes unaddressed until it severely affects well-being and  performance. Many professionals feel pressure to stay productive at all costs, with rest seen as optional rather than essential. I wanted to design a resource that serves as a clear and impactful reminder that rest isn’t a break from productivity—it’s what makes it sustainable.

Solution

To respond to this challenge, I created a short animated video focused on burnout awareness and the importance of rest. Built using Vyond and guided by microlearning principles, the video is concise, visually clear, and emotionally grounded. The tone is calm and supportive, with a voiceover that guides the viewer through practical reminders to pause, recognize early signs of burnout, and prioritize recovery.

Design Approach

I focused on applying effective learning principles to increase engagement and retention:

  • Scripted and storyboarded the content using microlearning strategies

  • Created simple, purposeful visuals that support the message

  • Used a text-to-speech voiceover to ensure clarity and consistent tone

  • Emphasized emotional resonance and relatability to motivate behavior change

Impact

This video is designed for use in employee wellness programs, onboarding, or internal communication. It models how learning experiences can support well-being—by shifting the narrative around rest from optional to essential. The piece demonstrates how intentional, learner-centered design can foster awareness and healthier workplace habits.
